Blante Carte saying US steel sucks is one of the single dumbest things I have ever heard. that aftermarket parts are built with a lower standard steel or aluminum is a product of cost and not geography.Īlso. Modern foundries have the ability to remove and correct the geographical issues in ore. The quality of steel has literally 0 to do with WHERE it is from. understand that I know what I am talking about and that this isn't B.S. When I say that Aftermarket, 3rd part branded products produced in China are routinely underwhelming in their quality. I wasn't bashing China and I certainly wasn't attacking you. (FYI, I work in Congress and my job is to know this stuff). I don't know what you do for a living, but I have personally toured Companies and had researched this issue. These knock off products are built with significantly lower quality parts. Not only that, take Foxconn for example: It will on 1 line build APPLE official product, to spec, and then the next building over will build lower grade, "EPAD" knock offs, to undercut Apple in the Chinese market. Counterfeit goods from China is a huge problem. Walk 1/2 mile down the road, or the next building over where a factory is simply producing aftermarket products and there is literally 0 quality control. I don't personally know what parts are built in house and which are contracted out, but I do know that Toyota institutes one of the highest "quality" control programs to any part provider (like denso) of any major manufacturer. If products deviate from the expected, that factory risks its contract. When a large company, like APPLE or Toyota, contracts out parts to China they institute quality controls quite harshly I might add. When I say that aftermarket products are usually below OEM spec, it is exactly because China has 0 concept of institutionalized quality control. Your low wage argument isn't even on topic. American Steel and Chinese steel are only as good as the foundry makes it.
